Combine an Roomba with an inkjet printer, shrink it down to the size of a muffin, and what do you get? Something like the Pocket Printer being developed by ZUtA Labs, and funded on Kickstarter. The tiny device is essentially a wireless printhead on wheels that can turn and drive in any direction, spraying ink as it goes.

erve a printer in black or white for a pledge of $200. Expected delivery is January 2015.

If this product works as advertised you really will be able to bring your office with you anywhere you go. Then you’ll just have to worry about getting crumbs in your printer as it whizzes across the table at Starbucks.

What’s old? Is an iPhone 4 old? Sure, just ask any teen. How about Windows XP? That’s decrepit, right? So says Microsoft. How about a Sony Walkman? So ancient that kids can’t even figure out what to do with it. Betty White’s pretty old, but still kicking well past 90. l Sussman titled appropriately enough, The Oldest Living Things in the World.

Sussman spent a decade traveling the world photographing living organisms that are at least 2000 years old. Things like a 7000-year-old Japanese cedar, 13,000-year-old Australian eucalyptus, and an 80,000-year-old colony of Aspen trees. Can you image what would those trees tell us if they could speak? My guess is “slow down.” And “watch it with that saw.”

You can see the author talk about her experience making the book in this TED talk from 2010.

Might be worth picking up a copy of the book as a reminder of just how young we all really are.

But your phone’s still really old. Nothing’s gonna change that.

I understand your surprise. You went to this site as you usually do, expecting to see what you usually see, and then, holy cannoli! Everything looks different, and familiar features are in weird places, and there are a ton of things you've never seen here before.

Change can be hard when you've looked pretty much the same since the beginning, as we have here at CreativePro.com. But the Internet has moved on, and we didn't want to be the on

line equivalent of our great-uncle Rob, who still sports the handlebar mustache he grew in the '70s. We knew it was time for a redesign.

Not Just Skin Deep

We did much more than simply spiff up our outward appearance. We took the opportunity to introduce major new site functionality, including community forums, RSS feeds, blogs, polls, and an article ratings system you control. (For an example, look for the ratings stars just below my name on this page.)

To enjoy some of those features, you'll have to log in. If you're not already a member, you can sign up here. It's free as always -- some things have stayed the same!

How to Log In

New Users:

Go to http://www.creativepro.com/user/register.

Fill out the form with the required information, including your email address and the username you want to represent you on the site. If you plan on commenting on stories or participating in our forums, we'd appreciate you choosing a real name for your username. That's not required, just appreciated.

NOTE: If our system tells you that the username or email address you entered is already registered, you may have an existing account with us. In that case, click on the "Request new password" tab at the top of the page, and we'll send you a log-in email with the information you need.

After you fill out the form and click the "Create a new account" button, we'll send you a confirmation email message.

NOTE: Since the new site is on new servers, your spam filter may intercept our email message. Check your junk folder if you don't see the new-password message soon after requesting it.

Click on the confirmation link in the email and finish the registration process, including choosing a password for your account.

Click on the "Newsletter" link at the top of the page to sign up for the daily or weekly newsletters.

Existing Members:

Go to http://www.creativepro.com/user/password

Type in either your email address or username you used on www.creativepro.com before the redesign. You may be most successful if you use the email address where you receive our daily and/or weekly newsletters.

Click the "Email new password" button. NOTE: Since the new site is on new servers, your spam filter may intercept our email message. Check your junk folder if you don't see the new-password message soon after requesting it.

When you receive the new-password email, open it and click the link in the message to log into the site.

Once you're logged into the site, you'll need to set a new password.

Look for the small tabbed items across the top of your

account page. Use these areas to fill out your expanded profile.

Navigate the Site

There are many ways to find material on the new CreativePro.com. I could write about the navigation options for pages, but since you're a visual crowd, you might prefer this explanation:

Make the Site Work for You

We add new content every day. To keep on top of the industry while keeping your sanity, try one or more of these ways to filter all that information:

RSS feeds let you tunnel in on a particular topic or type of article (for example, blogs or how-tos) and receive the content via your favorite RSS reader.

My List is our internal bookmarking tool you use to mark interesting and helpful articles for future reference (free membership required).

Weekly and daily newsletters recap news and other recent site content (free membership required).

Site Search gives you the opportunity to locate and display only the content you're interested in.

Customers can choose from six new versions: Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium, Design Standard, Web Premium, Web Standard, Production Premium and Master Collection. The combination of Creative Suite and the new capabilities of Adobe Flash® Player 10, also available today (see separate press release) deliver new levels of creativity and expressiveness across media channels. Designers using the Adobe Creative Suite 4 product family will gain unprecedented creative control using the new expressive features and visual performance improvements in Adobe Flash Player 10 to deliver breakthrough Web experiences across multiple browsers and operating systems.

As part of the CS4 product launch, the largest in Adobe's history, also available today are brand new versions of Photoshop® CS4, Photoshop CS4 Extended, InDesign® CS4, Illustrator® CS4, Flash CS4 Professional, Dreamweaver® CS4, Fireworks® CS4, Contribute® CS4, After Effects® CS4, Adobe Premiere® Pro CS4, Encore® CS4, Soundbooth® CS4 and Adobe OnLocation(tm) CS4.

Intuitive Workflows Improve Creative Efficiency

A simplified workflow in Adobe Creative Suite 4 enables users to design across media more efficiently by making it easier to complete common tasks and move content seamlessly among applications. InDesign CS4 includes a new Live Preflight tool that allows designers to catch production errors and a newly customizable Links panel to manage placed files more efficiently. The revolutionary new Content-Aware Scaling tool in Photoshop CS4 and Photoshop CS4 Extended automatically recomposes an image as it is resized, preserving vital areas as it adapts to new dimensions. An expanded version of Dynamic Link in CS4 Production Premium enables users to move and update content between After Effects CS4, Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, Soundbooth CS4, and Encore CS4 without rendering, saving countless hours in production. With deep XMP metadata support, the production workflow is simplified, resulting in online content that gives viewers new ways to interact with and search for video, while giving content owners new opportunities to track and monetize content.

Adobe Creative Suite 4 brings 3D center-stage providing the ability to paint, composite, and animate 3D models using familiar tools in Photoshop CS4 Extended. Flash CS4 Professional now offers the ability to apply tweens to objects instead of keyframes, providing greater control over animation attributes. Also in Flash CS4 Professional, the new Bones tool helps create more realistic animations between linked objects. With a searchable library of more than 450 dynamically updated device profiles from leading manufacturers, Adobe Device Central CS4 enables users to easily test mobile content designed using many of the Creative Suite 4 products.

New and Expanded Services Extend Capabilities for Online Collaboration

Adobe Creative Suite 4 now also offers a host of services* for online collaboration. Adobe ConnectNow, a service of Acrobat.com, allows real-time collaboration with two colleagues or clients. Designers can also share color harmonies with Adobe Kuler(tm). Other online resources include: Adobe Community Help for technical questions; Resource Central for accessing video and audio product-related news and tutorials, as well as Soundbooth scores and sound effects; and Adobe Bridge Home, a customizable resource for tips, tutorials, news and inspirational content.

Pricing and Availability

Adobe Creative Suite 4 and its associated point products are immediately available through Adobe Authorized Resellers and the Adobe Store at www.adobe.com/store. Estimated street price for the Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Premium is US$1799, US$1699 for Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Premium, US$1699 for Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium, and US$2499 for Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection.
